Free Recipes For Italian Foods

Making delicious, healthy, authentic Italian dishes does not have to come with a hefty price tag. From pizza to pasta, and antipasto to tiramisu there are numerous ways to locate free recipes for Italian foods.

One great resource to obtain free recipes for Italian foods is the internet. By using a search engine to conduct a simple search for specific key words or phrases you can quickly and efficiently narrow down exactly the recipe you need. Internet searches can even yield recipe results written in Italian, and some directly from Italy. Search engines also provide access to a great deal of information on the background of certain foods, ingredients, and cultural histories.

Another excellent resource of locating free recipes for Italian foods is the local library. Most libraries have an extensive food and cooking section where great cookbooks can be searched for just the culinary delight you desire. Friends and family members may also have recipes they are willing to part with.

One traditional Italian recipe that can often be found for free is Mozzarella, Tomato, and Basil salad (also know as Insalata Caprese). This salad is extremely simple to make, but is absolutely delicious. Begin by slicing a large, preferably heirloom, tomato into hearty slices. Lay each slice on a plate or platter. Top each tomato slice with a large leaf of sweet basil. Next, cut generous slices of fresh mozzarella and place on top of each basil leaf. Finally, sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper, and drizzle with a good quality extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Grocery stores and restaurants may also provide free recipes for Italian foods. Check out the butcher and seafood areas of your local grocer for free recipe cards. Ethnic food aisles may also have recipe cards on display. If you enjoy a particular meal at your local Italian restaurant, you could try asking the chef for the recipe. Many times they are more than happy to share some of their secrets with fellow food lovers.
