Italian Food And Wine Tours

Italian food and wine tours are becoming increasingly popular with people all over the world. The rich history of the country, the fascinating regions with their distinct flavors, and the beautiful countryside make vacation memories that will last a lifetime.

One of the most popular regions of Italy for these wonderful tours is southern Italy. This region nicknamed, "Campania Felix" ("Happy Company"), is one of the largest wine producing areas in the world. Known especially for red wine, it is no surprise Campania is a happy place. This region has some of the richest soil and best grape growing conditions. The local produce and cheese that also comes from this area is world-renowned. The full-bodied, deep flavored wines that are produced here are most commonly paired with meats like lamb and veal, sausage, and sharp cheese.

Tuscany, Florence, and Verona offer some of the best Italian food and wine tours available. Home to some of the most breath taking scenery, these regions have been producing wine for over two thousand years. You can stroll through vineyards, gaze upon the countryside, and of course sample various native wines. Delicious platters of cheeses, meats, and seasonal fruits and vegetables are provided to enhance the true Italian wine experience. Guides will take you through each vineyard, providing information on each variety of grape, history of the region and vineyard, information on how wine was originally made, and how it is still produced today. There are so many exceptional tours available and many can be customized to meet the specific needs of any group or budget.

It is definitely safe to say that no other country delivers such culinary diversity. The numerous (sometimes estimated at close to two thousand) amounts of indigenous grape varieties, as well as the distinct crafting techniques, make each wine (and each dish) so unique. It is because of this that everyone should consider partaking of an Italian food and wine tour.

Introducing non-Jewish Europeans to Jewish life

In Italy, where there are only about 25,000 affiliated Jews in a population of 60 million, most Italians have never knowingly met a Jew. “It’s unfortunate,” said the Italian Jewish activist Sira Fatucci, “but in Italy Jews and the Jewish experience are often mostly known through the Holocaust.”
